What is Dowsing ?

Dowsing is the process of using a tool such as a pendulum or rod to discover things that cannot be discovered using our everyday senses. You can search for anything by projecting an intent of what is desired and receiving confirmation or non confirmation feedback through the body, usually by the movements of a dowsing instrument. Variety of tools are used in dowsing like Y-Shaped branch, pendulums, L-Rods etc. Modern dowsers dowse for oil & gas, minerals, water, lost objects, lost people with perhaps one of the most common uses today being the use of a pendulum to determine one's state of health and whether particular medicines, supplements, etc. should be taken. Feng Shui & Vastu consultants all over the world are widely using in their professional practice.

Dowsing Tools

A dowsing tool is nothing more than a communication device. Many experienced dowsers in the world today are using different kind of dowsing tools. These are the pendulum, L-rods, Y-rod and the Bobber with the first two being easily made from materials on hand. As dowsing devices come in all sizes, shapes and materials, it is important only that you choose a tool that you're comfortable with for all instruments work equally well for experienced dowsers.

Pendulum Dowsing

As you can see, a pendulum is a very simple gadget. It is simply a object attached to the end of a string. You hold the string, letting the weight dangle below so it swings freely. It is important in choosing the materials for your pendulum that the string be one which allows full freedom of motion in all directions. A stiff string would not swing freely, and would affect the answers you get from the pendulum.

Practice of Dowsing

Dowsing is easy to learn and become master. Very few people have accurate results in the beginning .You require lot of practice but then what worthwhile goal is ever reached without effort? Before you can practice you do need to discover what the movement of the pendulum or rod(s) mean. To simplify matters I will concentrate on using a pendulum. The various rods are employed most often for fieldwork.

Most dowsing can be accomplished by three movements - one for a YES/POSITIVE answer, another for NO/NEGATIVE, and a third for MAYBE/NEUTRAL (or a Rephrase the Question) response. Experienced dowsers may also count the number of swings or turns to determine depth of an item being searched for; rely on the movement of the instrument to determine the length of a particular treatment they're doing; etc.

The first step is determining what YOUR responses mean. Your responses may vary from another person's but that is fine - what works for you is all that counts!
Take your pendulum and hold the string or chain between your thumb and first finger for about one minute at the height of about 6 inches from the weight at the end.
Sit quietly for a few moments to centre and ground yourself. You should be in relaxed position.
While slowly swinging the pendulum vertically back and forth, mentally (or out loud) ask the pendulum to show you your YES movement by swinging in a circular direction. This will be clockwise.
NO movement will be shown by anticlock movement
Ask for your MAYBE response. Oftentimes it will be a back-and-forth swing at a 45 degree angle. It should be something quite different from the circular motions.
Now you require long practice for some more time! In the beginning ,you should start by asking questions that you know the answers to. For example, is my name Mary? Then you can move on to asking questions where the answer can be verified, such as "Are there any messages on my answering machine?" If you get a YES response, ask "Is there 1 message?" "More than 1 message?" "Is there 2 messages?" and so on.

L-Rod

Although L-rods can be used to obtain the traditional Yes/No/Maybe of a pendulum they are used mainly for finding:
• Water, minerals and oil veins
• Geopathic stress lines
• The direction these veins or lines are flowing and/or their thickness
• Lost objects
• The measurement of someone's auric field or their individual chakras
L-rods can be of any size, be made of any hard material and can include handles on the short end. A rod having a size ratio of 3 to 1 will have a good balance to it. L-rods are usually made out of copper or brass and have plastic or copper sleeves over the short ends. These allow the rod to turn easily. The sleeves are not necessary though and the rods can be easily cut to the proper length ratio from a pair of coat hangers.

Some Practice Exercises:

• Dowse for an computer or mobile in a room. It does not matter that you already know where it is located, you just want your pendulum to show you, with the leading edge, where they are. Start with the closest one first, when you are standing in the middle of the room. Graduate to doing this exercise in buildings you are not familiar with.
• Do the coin toss. Establish which pendulum positions are “heads” or “tails”. Toss a coin, slap it down and cover it so you don’t see it, and dowse whether it is “heads” or “tails”. Anything over 50% is good. This is great for developing your accuracy, and it can be done just about anywhere.
• Go to the café and dowse over the menu. You may be close at the food you wish before login to cafe Another great way of developing your accuracy.
• Use your pendulum to help you select, for example, the best book on a given subject in a bookstore or library. Start by reading the back of the book’s cover while you have your pendulum out and going in the tracking position, then ask “Is this for my best and highest good?” and observe which way the pendulum swings. A weak “yes” means you should ask whether there is a better book on the subject, or whether you already have a good book on this subject at home. This technique will save you a lot of time and money. Try applying this technique in other ways.

Potential Uses For Dowsing:

• Selecting best friends from the group you have.
* Selecing a foods that are suitable for you.
• Searching for lost items.
• Locating geopathic stress.
• Selecting the best gem or crystal
• Selecting a best colour for painting or even your cloths
• Trustworthyness of any person.
• Getting performance of child at examination in advance.
• Determining which profession or career to select.
• Locating the best place for home or office

...and a zillion other possible applications limited only by your imagination!
